Gators roll through Bulldogs in Starkville
STARKVILLE, Miss. – No. 7 Florida (12-1, 8-0 SEC) defeated No. 24 Mississippi State (11-5, 2-4 SEC), 7-0, on Sunday afternoon at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.
The Gators swept the Bulldogs en route to their ninth-straight victory and fifth-straight win over a top-25 opponent, with three of those coming on the road.
UF dropped only one set in the contest with MSU, winning both completed doubles matches and sweeping all six singles bouts.
Will Grant and Johannes Ingildsen continued their dominance as a partnership while Sam Riffice and Duarte Vale picked up another important victory to help Florida secure the doubles point.
The final outcomes in singles mirrored much of what the Gators were able to do against Ole Miss on Friday evening.
Vale, Riffice, Bicknell, Shelton and Goodger all won for the second time this weekend while Andy Andrade was able to rebound from Friday’s loss with an impressive victory at No. 3 singles.
Since its winning streak began, UF has only dropped nine points in nine matches for a combined 54-9 mark in that span. This streak includes three 7-0 sweeps over LSU, Georgia and Mississippi State.
Florida is now scheduled to host No. 5 TCU on Wednesday at 5 p.m. ET at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.
