UF MTN: No. 7 Florida Hosts No. 5 TCU on Wednesday

Gators welcome Horned Frogs for top-10 battle

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 7 Florida (12-1, 8-0 SEC) will host No. 5 TCU (9-3) on Wednesday at 5 p.m. ET at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.

The Gators will enter the contest riding a nine-match winning streak and are coming off of two important wins at No. 19 Ole Miss and No. 24 Mississippi State last weekend.

UF has continued to produce positive results throughout the singles and doubles lineups recently.

Duarte Vale, Sam Riffice and Andy Andrade, the usual No. 1-3 positions, are a combined 30-8 in those spots in dual matches this season.

Blaise Bicknell has been automatic so far this season, tallying an 11-0 record in dual matches and is 20-0 overall.

Ben Shelton and Josh Goodger have also done a nice job carrying the No. 5 and No. 6 positions in singles with Shelton holding an impressive 12-1 dual match record in his freshman campaign while Goodger 5-0 in dual matches this season.

In doubles, Will Grant and Johannes Ingildsen posted a perfect 2-0 weekend as they moved up to the No. 1 spot for the first time this season. In dual matches this season, the partnership is 8-0.

Riffice and Vale put together a strong 2-0 weekend at No. 2 doubles against the Rebels and Bulldogs, while Andrade and Shelton are on a three-match winning streak at No. 3 doubles.

Following its match with the Horned Frogs, Florida is scheduled to host Florida State on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.

Florida tennis will follow COVID-19 safety protocols established by UF Health, campus leadership, the SEC Medical Guidance Task Force and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Consistent with those guidelines, Florida tennis will maximize fan seating while maintaining proper physical distance.

  *   Admission is free at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex and general admission tickets will be available on a first come-first serve basis.
     *   Additionally, a small allotment of tickets will be available for player guests.
  *   There will be designated seating blocks for groups of two and four indicated by orange seats in the stands to ensure proper physical distancing.
  *   Each block has six feet of distance on all sides. The first rows of each section will be blocked off to create a clear and safer walkway for guests.
  *   In accordance with campus guidelines, face coverings (over the nose and mouth) will be required of all guests throughout the entire match. Failure to comply with this important health guideline could result in loss of attendance privileges.
  *   The complex will feature new signage to help reinforce safety measures and will also feature an increased number of hand sanitizer stations.
  *   Fans are encouraged to utilize clear bags to reduce touch points for entry gate staff.
  *   In the event of inclement weather, patrons will not be allowed into the indoor facility.
  *   Access to the tennis building or the court is not permitted for any patrons.
  *   No outside food or drink is allowed in the complex and the concession stand will remain open.
