UF MTN: No. 11 Florida Sweeps LSU in Baton Rouge

Gators dominate doubles and singles play en route to comfortable victory

BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 11 Florida (7-1, 3-0 SEC) defeated LSU (8-3, 1-2 SEC), 7-0, on Friday night to open up its two-game road trip in the Southeastern Conference.
The Gators used victories on No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to secure the early point for the squad.

With their win on No. 1, Sam Riffice and Duarte Vale improved to 10-2 as a partnership in the 2020-21 season while Will Grant and Johannes Ingildsen moved to 3-0 together thanks to their win on No. 2.

UF’s singles play continued to be its strongest link as five of six matches were won in straight sets, while Vale cleaned up his match in a third-set thriller and improved to 5-2 in dual match play this season.

Overall, Florida is now 39-8 in dual singles matches in 2021 and 98-18 overall in all singles matches since the 2020 fall season began.

Andy Andrade, Riffice, Blaise Bicknell, Ben Shelton and Lukas Greif all took care of their contests with impressive performances on each respective court.

Andrade, Riffice and Shelton all improved to 7-1 in dual matches while Bicknell moved to 6-0. Greif also went to 3-0 with his victory.

The Gators are now scheduled to play at No. 10 Texas A&M at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday.
