UF MTN: Men’s Tennis Rises to No. 25 Ranking by ITA

The Gators crack the top-25 for the first time since the January 24th list.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida Gators Men’s Tennis saw a jump to the No. 25 spot in this week’s ITA team rankings, their first appearance in the top-25 since ITA’s January 24th rankings.

Florida has seen a resurgence in the team rankings as of late, thanks largely in part to their 7-0 rout of now No. 33 UCF and their takedowns of now No. 28 LSU and No. 12 Texas A&M to open the SEC Schedule.

Florida’s top young talent, headlined by freshman trio Aidan Kim, Adhithya Ganesan, and Jeremy Jin, have continued to impress against older competition as the dual season has progressed. All three claimed important wins in the Gators 2-0 start to the SEC slate. Their emergence has been a key part of Florida’s rise, as all three have emerged as stars atop Florida’s lineup.

Tanapatt Nirundorn and Nate Bonetto have provided a veteran presence on Florida’s young squad, and collected important points in the Gators’ recent victories. Bonetto tied the dual with LSU at 1-1 with his singles win, and Nirundorn sealed the 4-1 win over the Tigers with his court four victory in that same contest.
Since their rough stretch in January and February, which saw the Gators take on four straight road matches against top-25 opponents, the Gators have risen all the way from being unranked to breaking back into the list at No. 64, then No. 52, up to No. 27, and now No. 25.

The Gators will play two matches on Tuesday against Tennessee State before hitting the road yet again for two conference matches, first against No. 35 Auburn on Friday, followed by No. 24 Alabama on Sunday.
