Kim named SEC Freshman of the Week
Kim claimed the go-ahead point in Florida’s dual on Sunday, and delivered the most impressive comeback of the weekend.

GAINESVILLE Fla. – Aidan Kim has been tabbed as the SEC Freshman of the Week for his efforts in Florida’s win over the rival Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday.

Freshman Aidan Kim delivered the most impressive comeback of the Gators’ matchup with Georgia, battling back from a 1-6 loss of the first set to then-No. 58 ranked Ryan Colby. Kim quickly reclaimed momentum and shocked the Magill Tennis Complex crowd with a five-game winning run to claim set two 6-1. Kim and Colby battled to a 5-5 third set before Kim secured a crucial break point and held serve to win set three, 7-5.

Kim’s win gave Florida its first lead in the dual match at 3-2, and put Florida in position to claim their first win on the road of the season. The win over No. 58 marked his highest ranked win of the season.

His performance propelled him to the No. 115 spot in ITA’s Singles rankings, his first time returning to the rankings since the preseason list in November.

Kim becomes Florida’s second Freshman of the week honoree, joining Jeremy Jin who claimed the honor on March 6 after SEC opening weekend.
