Gators impressive March run earns them the award
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 1 Florida (17-1, 11-0 SEC) went 7-0 in the month of March, with five wins coming against current top-15 opponents, and with that has been named the ITA UTR Team of the Month, the ITA announced on Tuesday.
The Southeastern Conference champions swept five of their seven matches in March, defeating opponents by a combined score of 46-3.
The Gators won the SEC title on Sunday against Kentucky after a 5-2 victory.
This is the program’s 10th regular season conference championship and second under head coach Bryan Shelton.
UF has now won 14-straight matches and completed the home portion of the regular season with a 10-0 record at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex. The team has also now won 25-consecutive SEC regular season home matches dating back to March 5 of 2017, which is a conference record.
Additionally, Florida is 55-5 at home since the 2017 season began.
The Gators are scheduled to wrap up the regular season at South Carolina on Friday at 6 p.m. ET at the Carolina Tennis Center. The SEC Tournament is set for April 19-23.
