Florida continues to roll through competition
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 2 Florida (15-1, 9-0 SEC) swept No. 31 Arkansas (8-8, 2-4 SEC), 7-0, on Senior Day at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex on Friday as the Gators honored Brian Berdusco and Johannes Ingildsen.
In addition to the festivities honoring Berdusco and Ingildsen, Andy Andrade won his 100th career singles match at UF.
With the victory over the Razorbacks, Florida has now won 12-straight matches and has recorded four-straight sweeps over its opponents.
The highlight of the evening may have come in doubles after the No. 2 and No. 3 courts split, leaving it all up to the seniors Berdusco and Ingildsen on No. 1 to take the point for the Gators.
After falling behind 2-4 early on, the duo was able to rally back for an important victory.
With UF leading 1-0 after doubles, fans saw yet another dominant performance from the singles lineup.
It started with Andrade celebrating his milestone victory and ended with Blaise Bicknell improving his 2020-21 singles record to 23-0.
In between, Ben Shelton, Ingildsen, Duarte Vale and Sam Riffice all looked strong in their straight-sets wins.
With three matches left in the regular season, Florida will now travel to Vanderbilt on Friday at 2 p.m. ET and then host Kentucky on April 4 at noon ET for the final home match of the regular season.
