No. 3 Gators will face Top 25 conference foes Georgia, Texas A&M and Auburn in dual meets.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 3 University of Florida men’s swimming and diving team has finalized a schedule in conjunction with the Southeastern Conference’s guidelines and formats for the 2020-21 season that is highlighted by three conference dual meets against Top 25 opponents.
Florida will get their season underway on Friday, Oct. 30 in a top-10 battle with No. 8 Georgia in Athens, Ga. at 2:00 p.m. This will mark the Gators’ only dual meet in the fall.
Next on the docket for the Gators will be the US Open on Nov. 12-14 in Sarasota, Fla. Due to COVID, USA Swimming adapted a new format for the yearly competition, spreading out the four-day meet across nine different regional sites throughout the country. Florida will send a handful of swimmers to the meet. Just a few days later, UF will compete in their only invitational-style meet of the season on Nov. 18-20 with a trip to Auburn, Ala. to compete in the Auburn Invitational at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center, the site of the 2020 SEC Championships.
Competition will officially end in 2020 on Dec. 2-4 when the men’s divers hit the boards against Miami in a diving-only competition in Coral Gables.
UF will jump back into action in 2021 with their lone home meet of the season against No. 7 Texas A&M on Jan. 9, 2021. The meet at the Ann Marie Rogers Swimming and Diving Pool inside the Stephen C. O’Connell Center will be closed to the general public. The Gators will follow up that meet after a two-week hiatus against No. 22 Auburn on Jan. 23 in Florida’s regular season finale.
The Gators, who currently hold the third-longest SEC Championship streak in history, will look to win their ninth-straight conference crown on Feb. 16-20 at the SEC Swimming and Diving Championships in Columbia, Mo.
After SEC’s, the team will look for one final opportunity to make cuts and clinch NCAA invites at a last chance meet hosted by Georgia (date to TBD).
Gator divers will look to punch their tickets to the national meet with the NCAA Diving Zone Championships on March 8-10 before all invited participants will compete in the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on March 24-27 to wrap up the 2020-21 campaign.
