Three more Gators among nation’s best talent
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida’s Adam Chaney, Brennan Gravley and Kevin Vargas were named to the 2021 USA Swimming National Junior Team, USA Swimming recently announced.
Chaney, a freshman from Mason, Ohio, has competed at the 2018 Summer Nationals, 2018 Junior Pan Pacs, 2019 World Junior Championships and the 2019 National Championships. A two-time state champion and a six-time state finalist, Chaney broke both the 50 and 100 free Ohio state records and was rated the No. 6 recruit in the 2020 class according to CollegeSwimming.com.
Gravley, a sophomore from Las Vegas, made an instant impact for the Gators. Gravley earned All-American distinction in the 1,650 free and was named to the 2020 All-SEC Second Team and the 2020 All-Freshman Team. He is also a 2020 CSCAA Scholar All-America First Team and a part of the 2020 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.
Vargas, a sophomore from Murrieta, Calif., also made a big impact for UF immediately. He earned All-American honors in the 400 IM and was named to the 2020 SEC All-Freshman Team, the 2020 CSCAA Scholar All-America First Team and was on the 2020 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.
With Chaney, Gravley and Vargas, among others, Florida’s present and future looks to remain loaded with national talent.
On the men’s side, the Gators are scheduled to be back in action at Auburn on Saturday.
