The Florida men’s golf team will travel to Jacksonville, Fla. to compete in the Timuquana Collegiate, which begins Monday.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida men’s golf team kicks off their spring slate as they travel to Jacksonville, Fla. to compete in the Timuquana Collegiate, co-hosted by the University of North Florida and Jacksonville University at the Timuquana Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.
Format
Each team will complete 36 holes of stroke play on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. Golfers will begin play off of the first and tenth tee beginning at 7:50 a.m. on Monday morning.
Course Information
The tournament is being held at Timuquana Country Club, a private club founded in 1923 in Jacksonville’s Ortega neighborhood. The par 72, 6,859-yard course is considered one of Florida’s premier private country clubs.

Tournament History
This is the first time that Florida will compete at the Timuquana Collegiate.
Fall Recap
After the Southeastern Conference agreed to move forward with the collegiate golf season under a new set of safety parameters to ensure safety as the COVID-19 pandemic continued, head coach J.C. Deacon announced an updated fall schedule that included three SEC events.
The Gators kicked off fall competition at the inaugural Blessings Collegiate Invitational, hosted by the University of Arkansas, where freshmen Joe Pagdin and Tyler Wilkes made their collegiate debut alongside Carlos Bustos and Giovanni Manzoni, who competed for their first time as Gators. Wilkes carded the best finish of the tournament with a 6-over total par score of 222 to tie for 26th.
Florida continued their fall slate three weeks later in Nashville, Tenn. as they competed in the Vanderbilt Legends Collegiate. New to the fall lineup, Fred Biondi led all Gators through three days of competition after carding a 7-under total par 206 to finish tied for 15th, the highest individual performance of the fall for Florida. Freshman Joe Pagdin was right behind the sophomore, posting a 207 to tie for 18th. The Gators also captured their highest team finish in Nashville behind a 24-under par score of 828 over three rounds, tying for fourth alongside Tennessee.
The amended fall slate of competition came to fruition in Vestavia Hills, Ala. when the Gators competed in the annual Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Alabama. Freshman Joe Pagdin finished as the only Gator to post a final score below par and recorded his strongest finish of his short collegiate career as he tied for 16th behind a 2-under par score of 208. Ricky Castillo finished two strokes behind Pagdin and tied for 29th.
Welcome to Gator Nation, Yuxin
Earlier in January, head coach J.C. Deacon announced the addition of All-American transfer Yuxin Lin to the Gators roster. Lin joins the Florida program after one season with the University of Southern California.
“Yuxin is extremely talented and has played at the highest level of golf. His experience in the Masters and Open Championship will help us all,” said Deacon. “He knows what it takes to be great and he’s really excited to use all of our resources to become even better.”
Lin, who is currently No. 20 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, notched a freshman campaign where he co-led the Trojans with a 70.67 stroke average and posted a team-best four top 15 finishes. USC did not compete in the fall of 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions in the Pac-12.
