Kress will join the Gators in the fall of 2021
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida men’s golf head coach J.C. Deacon announced the addition of Matthew Kress to the 2021-22 roster on Friday.
Kress has signed with the Gators and will join the program in the fall.
“At this age, Matthew is one of the most impressive young men I’ve come across,” said head coach J.C. Deacon. “He is a standout in both the classroom and his pursuit of excellence on the golf course. He is talented, organized and incredibly hardworking. Matthew is going to flourish with the resources available to him at the University of Florida.”
Kress’ Accolades:
* 2021 IMG Junior World Qualifier shooting 64 (-8)
* Top 10 at the 2021 Memorial Amateur Championship
* Top 5 at the 2021 Santa Clara County Amateur Championship
* Top 20 at the 2021Southwestern Amateur Championship
* 2018 1st-team All League WCAL player
* 2018 WCAL Team Champions
* Winner of FCG Encinitas Junior Championship shooting 11 under par for 36 holes
Kress on why he chose Florida:
“I chose Florida because they had amazing facilities and all the resources to become a great player. Everyone that I talked to was focused on winning and improving which is exactly what I wanted.”
