“Playing in The Open Championship means a lot to me,” Luxin said. “I am honored just to be here.”

At just 20-years-old Lin will play in his third major tournament after two appearances in the Masters (2018 & 2020). He qualified for the event after winning his second Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship in 2019, tying reigning Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama, as a two-time winner. The junior will represent one of eight amateurs this weekend with the lone member out of the SEC. Lin enrolled at UF in January after transferring from USC and was a top finisher in two tournaments while carding the lowest 54-hole score on the team (202) at the Gators Invitational.

Horschel, a former three-time first team All-American, will tee it up for the seventh time at The Open as he played in five consecutively from 2013-2017. The two-time SEC Player of the Year had his best outing at St. Andrews in 2015 with a 6-under par performance highlighted by a 67 (-5) in the final round.

Getting the call on Monday, Horsfield received the news he would be a replacement after Zach Johnson withdrew from the event due to a positive COVID-19 test. He will make his inaugural debut at the Open, adding to his majors list of the U.S. Open (2015-16 & 2019) and PGA Championship (2021).

Golf’s oldest major tournament will take place at Royal St. Georges from July 15-18 with coverage beginning on the Golf Channel at 4 a.m. ET Thursday.
