WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Florida men’s golf team completed the opening round of the Williams Cup at Eagle Point Golf Club on Sunday. The Gators shot a round of 301 (+13) and are tied for 10th.
Florida features seven total golfers competing in the fall finale with two individuals. The Gators are scheduled to tee off round two tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
Ryan Hart (I) and Jack Turner both had the best round for the Orange and Blue with a 1-over 73. The duo are tied for 18th and both made a team-high four birdies. Turner is also tied for a tournament-low mark of 2.50 (-3) on par3s while Hart is steady with 3.0 (E) on par3s and 4.0 (E) on par4s.
The next five Gator golfers all finished within a few strokes of each other led by Matthew Kress (T36) with a 3-over 75. After sitting 3-over through seven holes, he finished even the rest of the round.
A stroke behind Kress at 4-over 76 was Parker Bell and Parker Sands (I) to sit T46. The pair are followed by Zack Swanwick (T59) who shot a 5-over 77 and a 6-over 78 from Rylan Shim (T66).
