Head men’s golf coach J.C. Deacon announced an updated fall schedule on Thursday.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – J.C. Deacon, the head men’s golf coach at the University of Florida, announced an altered fall 2020 schedule on Thursday. This schedule comes in the wake of updated Southeastern Conference policy on how to proceed with a fall collegiate schedule.
Last Friday, the SEC announced their plan to proceed with fall collegiate golf competition under an altered scheduling format. These new parameters require (1) team competition be limited to Southeastern Conference members or institutions within a conference members’ geographic region; (2) competition to commence no earlier than October 1, 2020; and (3) teams limit competition to no more than three team events.
The Florida men’s golf team will begin fall competition in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, hosted by the University of Arkansas, from October 5-7. This debut tournament, sponsored by Tyson Foods, will be broadcasted live on the Golf Channel each day from 4:30-7:30 p.m. (ET) and feature a 54-hole stroke play competition.
After a two-week tournament hiatus, the Gators are set to compete on October 25-27 at The Legends Club in the Vanderbilt Legends Collegiate.
The fall season will conclude at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, hosted at the Old Overton Club by the University of Alabama, on November 9-10. The last time the Gators competed in this tournament was in the fall of 2015, where they claimed 2nd place. In Florida’s twelve appearances at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, they have clinched 9 top-five finishes.
An updated spring schedule will be announced at a later date.
