Six Gators land on the first team, while five earn a second team distinction.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Eleven University of Florida men’s swimmers and divers were named to the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America teams on Wednesday.
To earn this individual honor, swimmers and divers must have recorded at least a 3.50 GPA or higher (cumulative or semester). First team honorees were invited to participate at this year’s NCAA Championships, while members of the second team achieved an individual B-cut throughout the season, or competed at their respective diving zones qualification meet.
Isaac Davis, Eric Friese, Brennan Gravley, Dillon Hillis, Gerry Quinn and Kevin Vargas were all named to the first team after being six of the 13 Gator swimmers invited to this year’s NCAA meet.
A trio of freshman- Alfonso Mestre, Advait Page and Tyler Watson- posted B-cuts in their first collegiate season to earn a second team distinction. Divers Alex Farrow and Nick Lydon joined them on the Second Team after competing at the NCAA Diving Zones qualification meet on March 9-11.
Last week, the Gators were selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team after combining for a spring GPA of 3.33. Additionally, the team placed 17 swimmers and divers on the 2019-20 Winter SEC Academic Honor Roll.
In the water, UF kept their Southeastern Conference Championship streak alive, pushing it to eight in a row after setting two new American records and winning five event titles, registering 1,194 points over the five-day competition on Feb. 18-22.
Last season, eight individuals were named to the CSCAA Scholar All-America team.
