UF MBK: Canyon Barry to Represent USA in 2024 Olympics

Barry will be part of the USA Basketball 3×3 Men’s National Team

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida men’s basketball alum Canyon Barry has been selected to the USA Basketball 3×3 Men’s National Team, which will compete at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Barry, who competed at Florida as a grad transfer in 2016-17, earned SEC Sixth Man of the Year and national Academic All-American of the Year honors while at UF.

Barry will be joined on the team by Jimmer Fredette, Kareem Maddox and Dylan Travis, coached by Joe Lewandowski and assisted by James Fraschilla. The quartet won gold together at the 2022 FIBA 3×3 Men’s AmeriCup and the 2023 Pan American Games. They also brought home silver at the 2023 FIBA 3×3 World Cup.

While the Gators have had numerous players compete in international play in FIBA world and continental championships, Barry becomes the first UF men’s basketball alum to take the Olympics stage.

The Paris 2024 Olympics are set for July 26-Aug. 11, with the 3×3 basketball competition set for July 30-Aug. 5 at Place de la Concorde.

Different than 5-on-5, 3×3 is played on a half-court with a 10-minute game clock and 12-second shot clock. Play is continuous, as teams “clear” the ball behind the 2-point line following a made basket, defensive rebound or steal. The first team to score 21 points via 1-point field goals or 2-pointers behind the arc is victorious; or if time expires then the team leading wins.
