Mincy has been on the UF coaching staff since 2015, when he came to Gainesville with head coach Mike White.

Mincy has helped lead the Gators to a 123-75 record in Gainesville, including four straight 20-win seasons (2015-19) and four consecutive NCAA Tournament bids (2017-21).

“I couldn’t be happier for Jordan,” White said. “This is an opportunity he has worked incredibly hard to earn, and Jacksonville has hired a fantastic person and exceptional basketball coach to lead their program.”

“I’m so appreciative to Mike White and everyone who has helped me reach this point,” Mincy said. “I feel extremely blessed and prepared for this moment, and I’m ready to get going.”

A native of Memphis, Tenn., Mincy is a nationally-respected coach who was named to ESPN.com’s 40 Under 40 in the summer of 2020, checking in as the highest-rated assistant coach on the list at No. 7. He was also named to the Black Coaches Watch List in 2021, produced by the Advancement of Blacks in Sports (ABIS). In 2016, Mincy earned a spot on the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) 30-Under-30 Team.

During Mincy’s tenure, the Gators have recorded 18 top-25 wins, including 12 at neutral or road sites. Florida’s four top-25 road wins over the past six seasons are tied for the most in the SEC, while UF’s 63 SEC wins, six NCAA Tournament wins, 27 road SEC wins and 18 total top-25 wins all rank second in the league.

Mincy is the second member of White’s initial Florida coaching staff to accept a head job, as Dusty May took the top job at Florida Atlantic in 2018. He is one of 10 coaches who spent time as a Florida assistant currently in a head coaching role.
