Lindsey and Wilson Named as Brad Davis SEC Community Service Award Winners
Both athletes will receive a $5,000 post-graduate scholarship provided by the SEC
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southeastern Conference has announced the male and female Brad Davis Community Service Award Winners for each of its 14 member institutions.
Cheyenne Lindsey (Softball) and Cavan Wilson (Track & Field/Cross Country) were selected as Florida’s recipients.
During her time at Florida, Lindsey totaled over 42 hours, volunteering with numerous organizations in the Gainesville area including mentoring elementary school students, spending time visiting with patients at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, and working to providing meals to families in need.
Lindsey, a 2022 University of Florida graduate, was a standout student-athlete for the softball program from 2019-2022. The Chattanooga, Tenn. native earned All-SEC Second Team accolades during her senior season in 2022, while she led the team with eight triples and tied the UF single-game record with two against North Florida. She finished her career ranked sixth all-time in Florida history with 11 career triples. Lindsey finished her career with a .326 average at the plate with 160 hits, 99 runs scored, 24 doubles, 11 triples and 10 home runs. She graduated with a degree in Health Education and Behavior and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Nursing at the University of Cincinnati.
Wilson was a presence in the community, contributing to multiple causes in his time as a Gator. He spent time working at local elementary schools helping to prepare science materials for students use in classes. Wilson also mentored high school students on the college application process and educated them on the differences between schools and programs.
During his time as a student-athlete, Wilson competed in both track and cross country for the Gators. He has competed in four SEC Championship competitions and is a five-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member. He earned his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering in the fall of 2022 and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Civil Engineering.
The school award winners are nominees for the Male and Female Brad Davis Community Service Leaders of the Year which will be announced later in May.
The school winners will each receive a $5,000 post-graduate scholarship provided by the SEC.
The SEC Community Service Post-Graduate Scholarship is named for former Associate Commissioner Brad Davis. Davis succumbed to cancer on March 2, 2006. He had been a member of the SEC staff since 1988, first serving as an assistant commissioner until 1994 when he was promoted to associate commissioner.

The male and female Community Service Leaders of the Year, to be announced later in May, will each receive a $10,000 post-graduate scholarship, provided by the SEC.
This is the 28th year that the SEC Brad Davis Leaders of the Year award has existed. A Florida student-athlete has claimed the overall award five times.
