UF LAX | Two Gators Named as Tewaaraton Top-25 Nominee

Shannon Kavanagh and Cara Trombetta each earn first Tewaaraton Top-25 Nominee; Florida’s total moves to 14

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Two members of the ninth-ranked Florida lacrosse team were named as 2021 Tewaaraton Top-25 Nominees, as announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation on Thursday.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the award.

Shannon Kavanagh and Cara Trombetta earned the distinction of Top-25 nominees for the first time in their careers.

Overall, the Gators have had 14 Top-25 nominations stemming from 11 Gators in the 12-year history of Florida lacrosse.

Five finalists will be announced in early May. The Tewaaraton Award recipients will be chosen after the conclusion of the collegiate lacrosse season.

The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse players in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation.

* In the first game of the 2021 season, she became just the ninth Gator to score 200 career points, doing so in 51 games played
