Emma LoPinto tabbed as Attacker of the Week, Sarah Reznick named Goalkeeper of the Week
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After starting the 2023 season off with a Top-20 win against Michigan, the Gators picked up two American Athletic Conference awards, as the league announced Monday.
Emma LoPinto was named Attacker of the Week, while Sarah Reznick was tabbed as Goalkeeper of the Week.
The honor was Reznick’s 13th in her career (Goalkeeper – new honor in 2023 – 1; Defender – 3, Freshman – 8, Honor Roll – 1). LoPinto picked up the 11th weekly accolade of her career, after earning a program record 10 Freshman of the Week honors a season ago.
LoPinto, hailing from Manhasset, N.Y., tallied seven points in the season opener against the Wolverines, coming from four goals and three assists. With her third point of the day, she eclipsed the 100-career point mark, becoming the fastest player in Florida history to reach the milestone (23 games).
Her seven points were also the second-most in a season opener (LoPinto – 2022 – 8; Ashley Bruns – 2010 – 8).
Reznick had a day in the cage for the Gators to earn the first Goalkeeper of the Week award, tallying 12 saves with a .600 clip.
She also registered four groundballs in the victory, while only allowing eight goals on the afternoon.
The Gators return to action on Saturday, Feb. 18 against the No. 1 North Carolina Tar Heels in Chapel Hill, N.C. Opening draw is set for 12 p.m. on ESPN+
