Emma Wightman, Emma LoPinto and Sarah Reznick each honored for their performance against Mercer
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After defeating the Mercer Bears 19-5 on Wednesday, March 30, three Gators picked up American Athletic Conference, as the league announced Monday.
For the fifth-straight week and sixth time overall, Emma LoPinto was named as the AAC Freshman of the Week. Emma Wightman grabbed her second AAC Defender of the Week honor in the 2022 campaign, while Sarah Reznick found herself on the Honor Roll for the first time this season.
LoPinto scored five goals against the Bears, just one off her career-high mark of six. The freshman registered a .833 shooting percentage in the game and dished out an assist.
The Manhasset, N.Y. native also caused a career-high two turnovers and picked up a groundball in the victory.
LoPinto currently sits third in the conference in assists per game (1.91) and seventh in goals per game (2.55).
Wightman put on a defensive show against Mercer, causing a career-high six turnovers in the game. That mark ties Cara Trombetta (twice) for the most CTs in a game in program history.
The senior defender also recorded four groundballs on the afternoon.
The Basking Ridge, N.J. native currently sits 14th in the nation in caused turnovers per game with 1.91.
Reznick was lights out in the cage on Wednesday against the Bears, recording 12 saves with a .706 save percentage. She allowed only five goals and also picked up three groundballs in the victory.
The redshirt sophomore keeper sits 22nd in the nation in goals against average (10.39) and is third in the conference in save percentage (.449).
The Gators are currently in action, opening AAC play against the Cincinnati Bearcats in Ohio. Opening draw is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
