UF LAX: Heller Scores AAC Player of the Week Honors

The senior totaled a career high six points in Saturday’s win against East Carolina.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – For the seventh consecutive week, the Florida lacrosse team was represented in the AAC weekly awards. Senior Emily Heller was named AAC Midfielder of the Week on Monday afternoon for her play in the Gators 19-7 victory over East Carolina on Saturday. This is her first time claiming this accolade this season, and the fourth time in her career.

Heller set a career high in points on Saturday with six to go along with a ground ball and draw control each. She tied a season high four goals, and evened a career high two assists. The West Babylon, N.Y. native has three hat-tricks on the year and 12 in her career, as well as scoring in every game this season and totaling a point in 21 straight games.

The reigning AAC Midfielder of the Year ranks third on the team in goals (28), and fourth in points (34), while leading the Gators in ground balls with 22. Heller also ranks second on the team in draw controls with 22, and sits just one draw control shy of becoming the sixth player in Florida history to have 200 career draw controls. The captain scored her 100th career goal this season on March 6 against UC Davis, becoming the 18th player to reach that mark in program history.

This is Florida’s 13th player of the week award this season, and their third straight week taking home the AAC Midfielder of the Week honor.

The Gators are now ranked at No. 9 in the country, their highest ranking of the season so far. Heller and the rest of the team will return home on Saturday to take on AAC rival and 14th ranked James Madison at 11:30 a.m. with the game being streamed on ESPN+.
