American Athletic Conference Announces Softball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball awards for the week ending Sunday, April 7.

Player of the Week

Taylor Woodring, Sr., UTL, East Carolina

Woodring led the Pirates to a 4-0 week with a sweep over UTSA and a midweek win over Campbell.  She had a hit in all four games, batting .600 at the plate.  She finished with five RBI and five runs scored. Woodring was instrumental in the wins over UTSA, scoring a run and recording an RBI in all three games.

Pitcher of the Week

Payton Dixon, R-So., South Florida

Dixon picked up a pair of wins for the Bulls in the sweep over Memphis.  She tossed 11.0 innings while recording a 1.27 ERA.  Dixon struck out six batters in her two starts.

Weekly Honor Roll

Leigha Kirby, Sr., P, UAB

Kirby held a 1.97 ERA across 10.2 innings to help the Blazers earn a sweep against North Texas.

Lindsey Smith, Jr., INF, UAB

Smith went 4-for-9 with four RBI and three runs scored in the series sweep against the Mean Green.

Presley Leebrick, Gr., OF, Florida Atlantic

Leebrick hit .500, recording a hit in every game in the series win against Charlotte, including 2-for-2 with 2 RBI in the series clincher.

Olivia Elliott, So., OF, South Florida

Elliott scored five times and knocked in another three runs to help the Bulls sweep Memphis.

Kailyn Bearpaw, Jr., RF, Tulsa

Bearpaw slashed .538/.538/1.000 with six RBI in the Golden Hurricane’s series win over Wichita State.
