Danielle Pavinelli and Emma LoPinto once again were honored by the league after their performances
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After picking up two wins this past week, the 10th-ranked Florida lacrosse team had two Gators earn American Athletic Conference awards, as the league announced Monday.
For the seventh-straight week, Danielle Pavinelli earned a conference award, this time being named Attacked of the Week for the third time this season. Emma LoPinto claimed her fifth Freshman of the Week honor of the 2022 campaign as well.
Pavinelli garnered her distinction after averaging 5.50 points per game this past week.
In the midweek game against Stetson, she totaled four points on two goals and two assists to help Florida to the 19-5 win.
Against the Arizona State Sun Devils, Pavinelli had a career-performance, finishing the day with seven goals. That bested her previous career-high of six that she set earlier this season against North Carolina.
The Northport, N.Y. native was 7-of-10 for a .700 shooting percentage and also registered two draw controls, one caused turnover and one groundball in the 21-10 victory.
Pavinelli has now recorded a hat trick or better in six of Florida’s 10 games this season and she currently sits 13th in goals per game (3.70).
The freshman LoPinto averaged 5.50 points per game and 3.00 assists per game to earn her fourth-straight honor.
LoPinto put on a show against Stetson on Wednesday, scoring seven points on four goals and three assists. She was 4-of-5 shooting for a .800 shooting percentage in the victory.
In Sunday’s matchup against ASU, the freshman dished out three assists and scored a goal to help lead Florida to the win. She picked up two groundballs and caused the first turnover of her career.
LoPinto has now recorded at least three assists in five of the 10 games this season, including four-straight games, putting her at 19th in the nation in assists per game (2.00).
The Gators are back in action on Wednesday when they head to Macon, Ga. to take on the Mercer Bears. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m.
