UF LAX | Gator Duo Earns AAC Weekly Awards

Danielle Pavinelli and Emma LoPinto continue to rack up the conference accolades

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After a strong 2-0 start in league play over the past week, the Gators had two players earn American Athletic Conference awards, as the league announced Monday.

For the sixth-straight week and seventh time overall, Emma LoPinto was named AAC Freshman of the Week, while Danielle Pavinelli earned her fourth AAC Attacker of the Week honor and eighth AAC accolade overall this season.

In the two games against Cincinnati and Old Dominion, LoPinto averaged 6.00 points per game, while also recording a .750 shot percentage and four groundballs.

In the conference opener against Cincinnati, the freshman scored seven points on five goals and two assists. She recorded a .714 shooting percentage against the Bearcats, while also picking up a career-high three groundballs.

Against Old Dominion, the Manhasset, N.Y. native tallied four goals and dished out an assist to earn her five points. She picked up a groundball while also going 4-of-5 for a .800 shooting percentage.

LoPinto – with her seven honors – has racked up the most Freshman of the Week honors by any rookie at Florida in program history.

Over the course of the week, Pavinelli also averaged 6.00 points per game on 2.50 goals per game and 3.50 assists per game.

Against the Bearcats, Pavinelli had a career performance, tallying a career-high nine points. She dished out a personal-best five assists – the second-most in a game in program history – while also scoring four goals on five shots (.800 shooting percentage). The sophomore attacker also registered three draw controls in the 19-12 victory.

The Northport, N.Y. native tallied her 100th career point against Old Dominion on Saturday after scoring one goal and recording two assists. She is Florida’s 19th 100-point scorer overall.

Pavinelli and LoPinto sit 18th and 23rd in the nation in points per game, registering 4.85 and 4.69, respectively.

The Gators are back in action with more league play on Saturday, April 16 when the team travels to Nashville, Tenn. to take on Vanderbilt. Opening draw is set for 12:30 p.m. ET on YouTube.
