GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Paisley Eagan and Georgia Hoey<https://floridagators.com/sports/womens-lacrosse/roster/georgia-hoey/16614> were named AAC players of the week for their performances this past weekend against Maryland. Eagan was named Midfielder of the Week, and Hoey earned Goalkeeper of the Week honors.
Eagan gave the Gators a huge lift in the second half, scoring four goals on 100 percent shooting. She scored the game tying goal with 20.9 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime. The Wilton, Conn. native now has five goals on the season, while converting on 83.3 percent of her shots. This is Eagan’s first career player of the week accolade and four goals tied her career high.
Hoey made the most of her opportunity in this one. After coming in with 10:52 in the second quarter, she recorded a career high seven saves and a caused turnover. The UConn transfer held the Terrapins to one for five on free position shots and made two clutch saves in the final two minutes to keep Florida within one score. Hoey earned her first career win in her collegiate career, and receives her first player of the week award.
UF moved up five rankings in the latest IWLCA Poll, going back up to being ranked 11th in the nation. Florida’s jump of five spots is the most of any team in the country.
Eagan and Hoey look to keep the momentum going, as the Gators are back in action Wednesday against Jacksonville at 4 p.m. with the game being streamed on ESPN+.
