American Athletic Conference Announces Men’s Basketball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the 16th week of the regular season.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Nae’Qwan Tomlin, Sr., F, Memphis

Tomlin averaged 18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds as the Tigers defeated Charlotte and Florida Atlantic. The senior had 16 points and seven rebounds against the 49ers on Wednesday before dropping 21 points and eight rebounds against the Owls on Sunday.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

PJ Haggerty, G, Tulsa

Haggerty averaged 20.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in a pair of games for the Golden Hurricane. He recorded 24 points and seven rebounds at Wichita State on Wednesday before having a stat line of 17 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in a win over Charlotte on Saturday.

HONOR ROLL

Yaxel Lendeborg, Jr., F, UAB

Lendeborg recorded a pair of double-doubles and averaged 21.0 points and 11.5 rebounds as the Blazers went 1-1 last week.

Vladislav Goldin, Jr., C, Florida Atlantic

Goldin averaged 21.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in a pair of games for the Owls last week.

Travis Evee, Sr., G, Rice

Evee averaged 22.5 points and 4.0 rebounds as the Owls defeated UAB and East Carolina last week.

Kasean Pryor, Jr., F, South Florida

Pryor averaged 15.5 points and 9.5 rebounds as the Bulls defeated UTSA and SMU to clinch at least a share of The American’s regular-season title.

Shane Dezonie, Jr., G, Temple

Dezonie dropped 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Owls came from behind to defeat Wichita State on Sunday.
