UF LAX: Davies Earns Invite to U.S. Women’s U20 Training Camp

The sophomore was one of 32 players who received an invite.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida lacrosse midfielder Kaitlyn Davies has been invited to the 2024 U.S. Women’s U20 Training Camp, announced Tuesday by Head Coach Kelly Amonte Hiller. The camp will be held at USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks Md., from June 19-21.

Davies is one of 32 players who received an invite, after being one of 42 players selected to the initial training team last summer. The makeup of the camp is a combination of players named to the initial training team and additional athletes that participated in the tryout process.

Following the June training camp, a total of 22 players will be invited to a training camp at Northwestern University from July 18-20. The team will then have one more camp in Northern California in August, before heading to Hong Kong, China for the 2024 World Lacrosse Women’s U20 Championship from August 15-24.

The Wayne, N.J. native started 21 games for the Gators this season, posting one goal, 13 ground balls, eight caused turnovers and 15 draw controls in route to both IWLCA All-Region and All-AAC Second Team honors.

Formerly a U19 event, World Lacrosse raised the age group to U20 after the 2019 championship in Peterborough, Ontario. Amonte Hiller was the head coach for the 2019 team and helped lead the U.S. to its fifth gold medal in the event. The U.S won the event in 1999, 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2019. Australia won the inaugural championship in 1995 and Canada won in 2015 with the U.S. finishing as the runner-up at those two events.
