Gators Reach New Academic, Community Service Heights in Fall 2023
A school-record 401 student-athletes earned a 3.0 GPA or higher this past fall.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The fall 2023 semester saw University of Florida student-athletes reach unprecedented heights in the classroom and in the local community.
A school-record 401 student-athletes earned a 3.0 or better GPA this fall while every program boasted a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for the first time. Collectively, UF student-athletes set another record by combining for a stellar 3.30 cumulative GPA featuring a 3.29 GPA for the fall semester.
Outside the classroom, Gators logged 1,556 community service hours with 33 Gainesville organizations across 144 involvement opportunities. Every sport contributed with hours coming from 339 total student-athletes across all programs. Among these activities is another successful Gator Tracks. Florida student-athletes purchase, wrap and deliver new shoes and socks to Gainesville area children. Earlier this month, 408 children received shoes and socks from the Gators.
Gators Classroom Success Numbers
Florida men’s cross country led all male sports with the top team GPA for the third-straight term at 3.43. Pacing female programs for the third semester in the row, women’s swimming & diving delivered a 3.67 GPA this fall.
Cumulatively speaking, men’s tennis finished with the top GPA for the ninth-consecutive term at 3.47. Women’s swimming & diving also claimed the best female cumulative GPA for the third-straight semester with a 3.71 mark.
Two sports also set team GPA record this past fall. Football’s 3.15 GPA for the fall term was its highest ever for a semester. Meanwhile, women’s golf raised the bar with a 3.59 semester GPA and 3.60 cumulative GPA – both program bests.

Thirty completed undergraduate degrees, 10 claimed graduate degrees and seven earned undergraduate or graduate certificates.
