Fabian garnered a first team accolade in the outfield, while Barco hauled in second team honors as a pitcher.

In being named First Team All-Region, Fabian is automatically nominated for the ABCA/Rawlings All-America Team, which will be announced on Saturday, June 19.

For Fabian, the accolade represents yet another piece of recognition in what has already become an award-filled 2021 season. In addition to today’s Southeast-ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team honor, Fabian was previously named a Third Team All-American (Collegiate Baseball), First Team All-SEC, All-SEC Defensive Team and the SEC Co-Player of the Week (March 22).

On his way to becoming just the fifth player in program history to hit 20 home runs in a single season, Fabian finished the 2021 campaign with a .249/.364/.560 slash line accompanied by 20 homers, 10 doubles, 51 runs, 46 RBI, 40 walks and six stolen bases. Included in Fabian’s monster season were four two-homer games, three of which occurred in game two of an SEC series across three-consecutive weekends (May 1 vs. No. 2 Vanderbilt, May 7 at Kentucky, May 15 vs. Georgia). Defensively, the third-year Gator outfielder started 59 of Florida’s 60 games in center field, producing a .971 fielding percentage and two outfield assists across 139 chances.

Fabian’s 20 home runs rank second in the SEC and are tied for ninth in the country. The Ocala, Fla. native also ranks ninth in the conference in walks and 13th in the slugging percentage.

Shifting gears to Barco, the 2021 Southeast-ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Second Team honor marks the second headline for the southpaw in as many days. On June 15<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__floridagators.com_news_2021_6_15_baseball-2Dbarco-2Dsproat-2Dselected-2Dto-2Dcompete-2Dfor-2Dusa-2Dcollegiate-2Dnational-2Dteam.aspx&d=DwIFAw&c=sJ6xIWYx-zLMB3EPkvcnVg&r=o5LKAX7slotfFMyE71jI7L22NYBIi1-KbRGNSXudTPo&m=8O0s0E5mHhaz9NhCFPLRW8NC5ePeBlNNljJccpf5Lmw&s=nDbXr0YfSmLWqisf5hagHPwwcy2y-bWIcxEumxDZfIs&e= >, Barco was officially selected to the 2021 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team roster alongside teammate Brandon Sproat<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__floridagators.com_roster.aspx-3Frp-5Fid-3D14233&d=DwIFAw&c=sJ6xIWYx-zLMB3EPkvcnVg&r=o5LKAX7slotfFMyE71jI7L22NYBIi1-KbRGNSXudTPo&m=8O0s0E5mHhaz9NhCFPLRW8NC5ePeBlNNljJccpf5Lmw&s=8EmB_HNcfp3EkInm-ZuiYUYCl5V7AKYuptpVEe2MjSM&e= >. With today’s announcement, Barco adds Southeast All-Region status to a 2021 portfolio that already includes an SEC All-Newcomer Team nod from this past May.

As a second-year player, Barco led the Gators in wins on the mound by posting a 10-3 record across 16 weekends starts. The Jacksonville, Fla. native totaled 83 innings of work and concluded the year with a 4.01 ERA, 94 strikeouts and a .239 batting average against. Barco’s first-career complete game came against No. 8 Mississippi State in the SEC Tournament on May 26, as he fired seven shutout innings on four hits and two strikeouts to earn the victory.

Barco enjoyed his strongest stretch of the season from April 3 to May 26, during which he delivered a streak of nine-consecutive starts without receiving a loss. During that span, the Jacksonville, Fla. native went 7-0 with signature victories over No. 3 Ole Miss, No. 2 Vanderbilt and No. 8 Mississippi State. In particular, Barco tossed four-straight quality starts from May 2 to May 26, with all four outings coming against SEC opponents including two versus top-10 foes in No. 1 Arkansas and No. 8 Mississippi State.
