UAB Women’s Soccer Visits Southern Miss

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women’s soccer team continues Conference USA play on Friday afternoon when it visits Southern Miss. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.

UAB LATELY
UAB is coming off a 1-0 heartbreaking double overtime loss against WKU on Sept. 24. The Blazers opened C-USA play with a 2-0 victory over LA Tech on Sept.16. Asha Zuniga and Lexxe Lipsey each scored for the Blazers while Anika Toth earned a clean sheet by making three stops.

SOUTHERN MISS LATELY
The Golden Eagles are coming off a scoreless draw against North Texas and have not lost since a 3-2 double overtime defeat at Alabama on August 29. Ilana Izquierdo is third in C-USA with 13 points and five goals. Ariel Diaz is fifth with 12 points and second with six assists.

THE SERIES VS. USM
The teams have met 23 times, with UAB holding a 14-6-3 advantage. The last three matches in Hattiesburg have been draws in 2014, 2016 and 2019. UAB’s last victory at Southern Miss was a 1-0 victory in 2009.

COMMON OPPONENTS      
The teams have six common opponents this season – Alabama, LA Tech, North Texas, Rice, UTSA and UTEP.

UAB is 9-3-2 when they play Southern Miss on a Friday.
