UAB Women’s Soccer Visits South Alabama

BIRMINGHAM – Coming off a thrilling victory over Tennessee Tech on Thursday night, the UAB Women’s Soccer team wraps up nonconference play on Sunday at South Alabama. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.

UAB LATELY
Morgan Halliwill’s header in the 87th minute got past Tennessee Tech keeper Maggie Conrad to lift the Blazers to a 1-0 victory on Thursday night at PNC Field. With the win, the Blazers (4-2-1) extended their unbeaten streak to five matches.

SOUTH ALABAMA LATELY
Irene Campo scored the equalizer in the 87th minute and kept the Jaguars without a loss in their 1-1 draw against Mississippi State on Thursday night.

THE SERIES VS. SOUTH ALABAMA
UAB leads the series 3-2-0. Sunday marks the first time since 2019 the teams have met. UAB won the first three matches of the series and South Alabama won the last two.

LAST TIME AGAINST SOUTH ALABAMA
South Alabama scored twice 59 seconds apart in the first half en route to a 3-1 victory over UAB on August 30, 2019.

COMMON OPPONENTS
UAB and South Alabama do not have any common opponents.

UP NEXT
The Blazers begin American play Sept. 14 when they travel to Charlotte. The next home match is against East Carolina in the AAC home opener Sept. 21.

Blazer Buddies is the new official kids club of UAB Athletics and is open to all kids ages 12 and under. Blazer Buddies Kids Club members will also be eligible for discounted tickets to the UAB football game versus Louisiana on Sept. 16 and select men’s basketball games.
