UAB Women’s Soccer Travels to WKU on Friday Afternoon

BIRMINGHAM – Coming off its 2-1 season-opening victory on Saturday night, the UAB Women’s Soccer team continues the Fall season when they face WKU on Friday afternoon. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.

THE SERIES 
Friday’s match will mark the seventh time the Blazers and Hilltoppers have faced each other. WKU holds a 3-2-1 advantage. The series began on 2014 in Bowling Green, a 1-0 WKU victory. The teams have played each other every year after, with the Blazers winning the 2017 and 2018 meetings.

ABOUT UAB 
UAB defeated Mercer 2-1 on Saturday evening. Regan Kommor got the Blazers on the board in the 20th minute and Kristen Goodroe’s goal in the 47th minute proved to the be the game-winner. Anika Toth started the match in net and Sarah Francis Adair played the 2nd half and recorded the win.

ABOUT WKU 
This is WKU’s lone Fall match. The Hilltoppers are coming off a 10-7-1 season and return leading point scorer Ambere Barnett, an All-Conference First Team selection, leading goal scorer Ashley Leonard and Ansley Cate, who received All-Freshmen honors.

UP NEXT 
The Blazers travel Atlanta to take on Georgia State on Wed, Oct. 28. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. (CT)/7:00 p.m. (ET).
