UAB Women’s Soccer Travels to Georgia State on Wednesday Evening

BIRMINGHAM – Coming off a 2-2 draw against WKU on Friday night, the UAB Women’s Soccer team remains on the road to face Georgia State on Wednesday evening.

THE SERIES 
Wednesday’s match will mark the fifth time the Blazers and Panthers have faced each other. UAB holds a 3-0-1 series lead. The series began on 2007 in the LQ Cup in Macon, Ga., a 2-0 victory for the Blazers. After a 10-year hiatus, the teams met again in 2017 with UAB defeating GSU 1-0. In 2018, the Blazers were 2-0 winners in Atlanta. Last season, the teams played to a 0-0 draw in Birmingham.

ABOUT UAB 
UAB is 1-0-1 on the season. The Blazers tied WKU 2-2 on Friday night. After falling behind 2-0, UAB got goals from Kristen Goodroe and Lexxe Lipsey to tie the contest. After a scoreless overtime period, the teams went into penalty kicks, which WKU won 7-6.

ABOUT GEORGIA STATE
The Panthers are 8-2-2 this season. GSU fell to South Alabama 3-0 on Sunday afternoon. Maddie Johnston and Kelsee Holloway are the panthers’ top scorers with six points. Jaddah Foos is 5-2-1 in net with a GAA of 0.84.

UAB has a 8-4-2 record against teams from the state of Georgia.
