UAB Women’s Soccer Signs Ines Villanueva Casal

BIRMINGHAM – UAB women’s soccer head coach Erica Demers announced the addition of Ines Villanueva Casal to the 2020 roster.
 
The 5-7 midfielder comes to Birmingham from Santiago de Compstela A Coruña, Spain.
 
Villanueva has played for the U-19 Spanish Women’s National Team, Victoria FC, the U-16 and U-17 Galician Regional Team and received All-Conference First Team Spanish 2nd Division honors.
 
Villanueva led Spain U-19 to a perfect 4-0 round robin record at five team the 2019 Cotif Women’s Tournament. They played in the championship match where they defeated Villareal U20 to win the title.
 
“Ines is a quality player and an extremely exciting player to add to our roster for this coming Fall,” said Demers. “Her level of experience with the U19’s Spanish National Team will immediately raise the competitive bar and level of expectation to our depth this season.”
 
A valedictorian at IES de Cacheiras school, Villanueva Casal plans on majoring in engineering.
