BIRMINGHAM – UAB begins its final season in Conference USA on Aug. 18 when it takes on Chattanooga at PNC Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
UAB LATELY
The Blazers were picked to finish fifth in the 11-team Conference USA. UAB played a pair of exhibition matches, both 0-0 draws, at Vanderbilt on Aug. 8 and versus Belmont on Aug. 14.
CHATTANOOGA LATELY
The Mocs were picked to finish fifth in the 10-team Southern Conference. Defender Maggie Shaw was named to the SoCon Preseason All-Conference Team. UTC split its two exhibition matches, defeating Middle Tennessee 2-1 on Aug. 9 before falling to Jacksonville State 1-0 on Aug. 12.
THE SERIES VS. CHATTANOOGA
The Blazers and Mocs have met four times with each protecting its home pitch twice. The series began in 1996 and went on hiatus for 18 years before resuming in 2014 and 2015. Last season, UTC came away with a 1-0 victory in Chattanooga.
COMMON OPPONENTS
UAB and Chattanooga have two common opponents, Samford and Tennessee Tech.

UAB TO THE AAC
On Thurs., Oct. 21, American Athletic Conference officials announced that Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, North Texas, Rice and Texas San Antonio will join UAB as new members in the AAC and compete against current AAC members East Carolina, Memphis, Navy, USF, SMU, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa and Wichita State.

The Blazers hit the road to face Georgia Southern on Aug. 21. Kickoff is 1 p.m. (ET)/noon (CT). The next home match is Aug. 25 versus Kennesaw State.
