UAB Women’s Soccer Hosts Columbus State at BBVA Field on Sunday

BIRMINGHAM –The UAB women’s soccer team closes out the non-conference schedule when it hosts Columbus State on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.

ABOUT UAB
The Blazers (5-2-1, 1-0-0 C-USA) are 17th in the NCAA and second in Conference USA with 20 goals scored. They have won two straight, including the C-USA opener over Southern Miss on Feb. 26.   

ABOUT COLUMBUS STATE
Columbus State is a Division II school in Columbus, Ga. that competes in the Peach Belt Conference. The Cougars are 3-0-1 on the season. CSU is ninth in NCAA D-II in goals with nine.

THE SERIES VS. COLUMBUS STATE
This will be first meeting between the two teams.

LEX IN EFFECT
Feb. 16 Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week Lexxe Lipsey leads C-USA with six goals and is second with 12 points.

MAKING IT COUNT
Eight of Kristen Goodroe’s 11 shots have been on goal this season. The freshman has three goals on the year.

Conference play resumes March 14 when the Blazers visit UTEP at noon. The next home match will be March 21 when UAB hosts UTSA at noon.


BBVA Field will accommodate fans with social distancing measures in place.

Fans will be asked to practice social distancing and sit in available seats. Masks are required at all times per state and county ordinance.
