BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women’s basketball team makes it second of three trips to the Lone Star State when it faces North Texas on Jan. 21. Tipoff at the Super Pit is scheduled for 2 p.m.
UAB LATELY
UAB (9-8, 1-7 C-USA) is coming off a 76-54 loss against Middle Tennessee on Jan. 16. The Blazers are 2-4 on the road this season.
NORTH TEXAS LATELY
North Texas (6-12, 3-5 C-USA) fell to Rice 81-74 on Jan. 19. The Mean Green are 5-3 at home this season.
UAB AND NORTH TEXAS HISTORY
The series began in 2000 as part of the Air Force Classic. In total, the teams have met 15 times, with UNT holding an 10-5 advantage. They have played in the Conference USA Championship once, 2017. UNT leads the series 5-2 at the Super Pit.
LAST TIME AGAINST NORTH TEXAS
Zakyia Weathersby recorded her 18th double-double of the season with 17 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Emily Klaczek and Kylee Schneringer each added 11 points, but the Blazers fell 67-60 at the Super Pit on Feb. 19,2022.

UAB and North Texas have nine common opponents this season.

UAB TO THE AAC
American Athletic Conference officials announced that Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, UTSA, Rice and Texas San Antonio will join UAB as new members in the AAC and compete against current AAC members East Carolina, Memphis, Navy, USF, SMU, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa and Wichita State. The move will be official on July 1, 2023.
