UAB WBB Hosts Mississippi Valley State on Friday Morning


BIRMINGHAM
 – The UAB women’s basketball team returns to Bartow Arena to host Mississippi Valley State on Friday morning. Tipoff is scheduled for 11 a.m..

UAB LATELY
UAB (2-0) was led by Zakyia Weathersby’s game-high 28 points in the Blazers’ 81-50 victory over Chicago State on Saturday afternoon. Margaret Whitley added 11 and Maria Roters scored 10 for the Blazers. Weathersby leads Conference USA with 20.0 ppg and 11.0 rpg. She is one of 37 players in the country that has recorded at least two double-doubles.

MVSU LATELY
MVSU fell to Ole Miss 94-44 in their only game this season. Ronni Williams led the with 12 points for the Delta Devilettes.

UAB AND MVSU HISTORY 
The teams have met nine times, all UAB wins. The series began Feb. 26, 1985. Every game has been played in Birmingham with the exception of the 1994 contest which was in Itta Bena, Miss.

UAB FOOD DRIVE
The Blazers are hosting a canned food drive for the MVSU contest benefiting the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama. Each donated canned item will earn fans a $2 ticket into the game. One ticket per canned item donated.

UP NEXT
The Blazers will travel to California for a pair of games beginning with San Diego State on Nov. 22 followed by Pepperdine on Nov. 24. The next home contest is Nov. 29 against Chattanooga.

Women’s Basketball season tickets are on sale by purchasing the 2021-22 Gold Card for $65 here. The 2021-22 Gold Card will get you access to all home events for Women’s Soccer, Men’s Soccer, Volleyball, Women’s Basketball, Softball, and Baseball (Regions Field & Young Memorial). This card is not valid for Conference USA or NCAA Championship events.
