UAB WBB Falls to WKU 91-69

BIRMINGHAM – A big 1st half powered WKU past UAB 91-69 on Saturday afternoon at Bartow Arena.  

Margaret Whitley led the Blazers (12-16, 4-15 C-USA) with 18 points, including four 3-pointers. Maria Roters scored 12 points and Denim DeShields led all players with six assists. 

Acacia Hayes (24 points) and Mya Meredith (18 points) combined for 42 points for the Hilltoppers (15-12, 12-6 C-USA).  

A 9-0 run in the 1st quarter put WKU ahead 15-5 and a 16-2 run in the 2nd quarter gave the Lady Toppers their largest lead at 24-points at 42-18.  

WKU scored 30-points off of 20 UAB turnovers.  

The Blazers close the regular season against Charlotte March 4.

  • Whitley surpassed 1,300 career points
    • Additionally, she passed Janetta Johnson to move into 21st place on UAB’s all-time scoring list

Discounted group tickets and fan experiences are available for a minimum purchase of 15 tickets, and fan experiences are available on a first come, first served basis to any home basketball game during the 2022-23 season.
