BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women’s basketball team looks to remain undefeated at Bartow Arena when they host Grambling State on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m.
UAB LATELY
UAB (6-4) is coming off a 71-62 setback at Mercer on Dec. 19. The Blazers are 5-0 at home this season.
GRAMBLING STATE LATELY
Grambling State (2-7) is coming off an 82-58 loss against Auburn on Dec.18. The Lady Tigers are 0-6 on the road this season.
UAB AND GRAMBLING STATE HISTORY
The series began in 1996 in Starkville, Miss. in the Lady Bulldog Classic with GSU coming away with a 59-55 victory. Six years later, they met again with UAB winning 81-73 in Birmingham. The series resumed last season with a Blazers comeback victory 70-62.
LAST TIME AGAINST GRAMBLING STATE
UAB outscored Grambling State 19-6 in the final quarter in the Blazers 70-62 victory on Dec. 13, 2020. Margaret Whitley scored 12 of her game-high 26 points in the final frame. Zakyia Weathersby recorded a double-double of 13 rebounds and 13 points.
UAB VS. SWAC
The Blazers have had success against current teams from the Southwest Athletic Conference, sporting a 61-11 (.847) record.
COMMON OPPONENTS
UAB and Grambling State have two common opponents this season: Arkansas Pine Bluff and Mississippi Valley State.

Weathersby leads the NCAA with 5.5 offensive rebounds per game. She ranks first in Conference USA in blocks (19), blocks per game (2.4), double-doubles (6), field goals made (61), rebounds (95), rebounds per game (11.9) and points per game (18.1).

Both Weathersby (Chicago State/Chattanooga) and Caitlynn Daniels (Mississippi Valley State) each have a 28-point game under their belts this year.
EIGHT IS ENOUGH
In Daniels career day against MVSU, she drained eight 3-pointers. This is the most in C-USA this season and tied for the ninth most in the NCAA this season.
