NORFOLK, Va. – Coming off its Conference USA opener at Charlotte, UAB (9-5, 0-1 C-USA) travels to defending league champion Old Dominion (5-9, 1-0 C-USA) on Saturday evening. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
UAB AND OLD DOMINION
UAB and Old Dominion began their series on Jan. 20, 1983 at the BJCC when the teams were members of the Sun Belt Conference. They have met a total of 34 times – in five cities and seven different venues – with the Blazers holding dominant 21-13 advantage. The teams have played every season since 2013-14 when ODU rejoined C-USA after spending the previous 23 seasons in the Colonial Athletic Association.
ABOUT OLD DOMINION
Charlotte (5-9, 1-0 C-USA) is coming off a 70-60 victory over Middle Tennessee on Thursday night. Three Monarchs players average double-figure scoring in A.J. Oliver II (14.3 ppg), Xavier Green (14.0 ppg) and Jason Wade (10.3 ppg). Aaron Carver is the team’s leading rebounder (8.9 rpg). Oliver is a mid-year transfer from Clemson, who had to sit out due to NCAA transfer rules. His first game was at Illinois on Dec. 14, 2019. ODU graduated First Team All-Conference selections B.J. Stith (16.8 ppg, C-USA Player of the Year) and Ahmad Carver (16.6 ppg)

LAST TIME AGAINST OLD DOMINION
Old Dominion’s Xavier Green converted an 1-and-1 with 4.0 seconds remaining to lead the Monarchs to a 61-59 victory over UAB in the semifinals of the Conference USA Championship held at the Ford Center on March 15, 2019. The Blazers had a chance to tie the contest in the waning seconds, but could not convert a fast break attempt with one second remaining. Zack Bryant led all players with 23 points on 10-of-14 shooting. Jalen Perry scored 14 and Lewis Sullivan added 10 for UAB (20-14).Green had 21 for ODU (25-8) who advances to the championship game Saturday evening.
