UAB Visits Florida Atlantic on Saturday

BOCA RATON, Fla.  – UAB (11-7, 2-3 C-USA) remains in Florida when they visit Florida Atlantic (12-6, 5-1 C-USA) on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff is at 3 p.m. (CT) and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.

UAB AND FAU    
The teams began the series when FAU came to Bartow Arena for a nonconference game on Dec. 22, 2008. The teams would not meet again until the Owls joined Conference USA during the 2013-14 season. The Blazers have won seven straight games against the Owls dating back to Feb. 6, 2016.

ABOUT FAU    
FAU (12-6, 4-1 C-USA) is coming off a 97-94 overtime thriller over Middle Tennessee. The Owls are 10-1 at RoofClaim.com Arena. Cornelius Taylor is the Owls’ leading scorer (14.6 ppg) and Richardson Maitre leads FAU with 6.4 rpg. Taylor scored 26 points and Maitre added 19 in the Owls’ 97-94 overtime win against Middle Tennessee on Thursday night.

LAST TIME AGAINST FAU    
 UAB opened its 2018-19 Conference USA slate in dominating fashion as the Blazers defeated Florida Atlantic 67-50 on Jan. 3, 2019  at Bartow Arena. 

The Blazers (9-5, 1-0 C-USA) have now won seven in a row against the Owls (9-5, 0-1 C-USA) and improved to 7-1 at home this season. UAB’s balanced attack saw four players score in double figures, led by senior guard Jeremiah Bell with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

UAB shot 47.5 percent overall and scored 24 of its 32 first half points in the paint en route to outscoring the owls 34-18 down low. The Blazers out-rebound FAU by four (39-35) and are now 9-3 overall when winning the rebounding battle.

Makhtar Gueye scored 10 of his 12 points in the first half, while Zack Bryant (11) and Lewis Sullivan (10) combined to score 15 of their 21 points in the second half.
