UAB Softball Adds Former Auburn Standout Kendall Veach to Coaching Staff

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB softball program adds another impressive name to their coaching staff as former Auburn standout Kendall Veach joins the Blazers as the volunteer assistant coach for the 2020-21 season.

“I am so excited about Kendall Veach joining our staff,” said head coach Joe Guthrie. “She knows the game and has a passion for teaching. She will particularly help our infielders and catchers this season. For us to bring in Scott (Woodard) along with his former star pupil Kendall, is a huge get for our program. We could not be happier to have her here with us.”

“I’m excited for the journey and thankful for the opportunity to learn under an experienced and knowledgeable coaching staff,” said Veach. “Go Blazers!”

Veach, a four-time Academic All-SEC earner was a three-year starter for the Tigers where she accumulated 131 career hits, 119 RBI and 39 home runs. The Selma, Ala. native split time between catcher, third and first base in her four seasons acting as the catcher in all 60 of Auburn’s games in her senior season. She was a member of the 2016 SEC Tournament Championship and NCAA Runner-Up squad.

Veach earned SEC All-Tournament Team honors in 2017 and was named All-SEC Second Team and NFCA All-Region First Team in her senior season at Auburn. Her 20 homeruns in 2019 were second most in program history in a single season. Behind the dish she limited opponents to only 14 stolen bases in 2019, the lowest total in school history.

She graduated with her degree in exercise science in 2019 and was drafted seventh overall to the Beijing Shougang Eagles in the 2019 National Pro Fastpitch Draft.

Before she became a staple at Auburn, Veach was a five-year letterman at John T. Morgan Academy in her native Selma. She helped lead the Senators to an AHSAA 4A State Championship in 2011. Veach was also a member of the track and field team where she became a state champion in the shot put.
