UAB Prepares for Conference USA Championship

FRISCO, Texas – UAB (21-6, 13-5 C-USA) begins its pursuit for a conference title on Thursday night. The Blazers will face the Marshall/Rice winner at 6 p.m. at The Star in Frisco, Texas. The game will air on Stadium.
UAB LATELY
UAB is the No. 2 seed in the West and received a first round bye into the quarterfinal round. The Blazers are coming off a sweep at North Texas last weekend, taking the first game on Friday 65-51 before fending off a late Mean Green comeback on Saturday to come away with a 65-61 win.

UAB GETS WIN NUMBER 20
UAB’s 65-51 win at North Texas on March 5 was its 20th win in 26 games. Only four Blazer teams have accomplished that feat faster. The 2015-16 squad recorded its 20th win in 24 games and the 1981-82, 2005-06 and 2009-10 teams did it in 25 games.

THREE BLAZERS RECEIVE C-USA HONORS
Tavin LovanTrey Jemison and Quan Jackson were named to Conference USA All-Conference Teams. Lovan was named to the second-team while Jackson and Jemison were named to the all-defensive team. This is the first time in program history that UAB has had two players on the all-defensive team in the same season.

D-ING UP
In addition to being seventh in the nation in scoring defense (60.1), the Blazers are fourth in turnover margin (5.4) and 16th in scoring margin (+12.9).

UP NEXT
The winner of this game will face the winner of the No. 1 East WKU/No. 4 West UTSA game in the semifinals. That contest will air on CBS Sports Network on March 12 at 11 a.m.
