UAB Men’s Soccer to Face Mercer in Spring Home Opener

BIRMINGHAM– UAB (1-7-0) will host Mercer (2-5-0) for their home spring opener at BBVA Field on Sunday evening. 

“Mercer has had an unbelievable run the last few years including winning their conference a number of times,” said head coach Jeff Kinney.  “They are athletic and very explosive in many areas of the field.  We are excited for our home opener to be against another quality opponent.”
 
In their last matchup, the Blazers lost 2-0 to NC State. UAB finished the game with seven shots with two on goal. 

Shane De Leon recorded three shots with two on goal. Joseph Buete, Grayson Dupont, Tyrell Price, and Heath Flathau record a shot each.   

 
Mercer is coming off at 1-0 win at Jacksonville. In total, UAB and Mercer have met 10 times, with the Blazers winning seven out the contests and a tie.  


 
BBVA Field will accommodate fans with social distancing measures in place.
 
Fans will be asked to practice social distancing and sit in available seats. Masks are required at all times per state and county ordinance.
