UAB Men’s Soccer to face Lipscomb in Exhibition Match on Saturday

BIRMINGHAM– The UAB men’s soccer team travels to Nashville for a matchup against Lipscomb in an exhibition match on Saturday. Kickoff will be at 5 p.m.

“We are excited to be playing an opponent different than ourselves to see what our guys can do,” said head coach Jeff Kinney. “With a few new faces in our lineup, these exhibition matches are important for our progress. We’ve had fun matchups with Lipscomb and I’m sure Saturday will be no different.”

UAB finished the Fall season 1-6-0. In the Blazers’ 3-2 victory over Central Arkansas, senior Joseph Buete led the way with his first career brace after a clutch game-winning goal to secure the win in overtime. Senior Aodhán O’Hara found the back of the net as well from a penalty kick.

Buete, O’Hara, Mason Robicheaux, Cale Loughrey and Grayson Dupont all finished the Fall season with a goal.

Lipscomb started their Spring schedule with a 2-0 win over Mercer. The Bisons went 5-9-2 in 2019 including a 1-1 tie in two overtimes to UAB at BBVA Field. The Blazers lead the series 4-1-2.

BBVA Field will accommodate fans with social distancing measures in place.

Fans will be asked to practice social distancing and sit in available seats. Masks are required at all times per state and county ordinance.
