UAB Men’s Soccer Falls to Georgia State in Midweek Matchup

ATLANTA – The UAB men’s soccer team (1-2) struggled to stop Georgia State’s (3-0) offensive attack, as the Blazers fell 4-0 to the Panthers Wednesday evening in Atlanta.

Georgia State wasted no time getting on the board in the match, scoring in the seventh minute of action as Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week Matthew Fearnley capitalized off a ball from Aris Briggs.

The Panthers added a second in the 19th minute as Logan Luque tallied his first goal of the season to put GSU up 2-0.

The Blazers’ first shot on goal came in the 35th minute when Tyrell Price tried his luck in the bottom half of the net but was saved by the Georgia State keeper. The Panthers took a 2-0 advantage into halftime.

Georgia State continued the scoring just over a minute into the second half with a goal from Justin Guest to make it a 3-0 game. The Panthers final goal of the evening came from Max Wilkins in the 81st minute bringing the score to 4-0.

The Green and Gold tallied nine shots, seven of which came in the second half. Georgia State fired off 16 shots, with eight shots on goal.
