UAB Men’s Soccer Defeats Montevallo 5-1 in Exhibition Action

BIRMINGHAM –The UAB men’s soccer team scored three goals in the first 20 minutes of action which propelled the Blazers to a 5-1 exhibition victory over Montevallo on Saturday night at BBVA Field.  

“I thought our energy and pressure was good for the majority of the match,” said head coach Jeff Kinney. “We definitely could have been cleaner on the ball, but it was a good result.  Hopefully, we build momentum going into the regular season.” 

Tyrell Price opened the scoring for UAB with one of his two goals in the seventh minute. Price would also find the back of the net in the 72ndminute. Mayno Linares, Krenar Krasniqi and Heath Flathau tallied a goal each. Goalkeeper Seth Torman recorded three saves on the night.  

Montevallo would get on the board in the 30thminute with a goal by Fabio Menzel. 

The Blazers conclude their exhibition slate at 1-0-1 and will begin regular season play on Feb. 16 against Central Arkansas at home.

  • Mason Robicheaux and Owen Travis tallied a shot on goal 
  • Guillermo Rodriguez and Owen Travis played the entire 90 minutes 

BBVA Field will accommodate fans with social distancing measures in place. 

Fans will be asked to practice social distancing and sit in available seats. Masks are required at all times per state and county ordinance.
