BIRMINGHAM – UAB returns home to Bartow Arena on Thursday night to host Southern Miss. Tipoff time is at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.

The rivalry dates back to UAB’s inaugural season when the teams played on Jan. 10, 1978 – the Blazers’ 11th game in program history. In total, they have met 50 times with UAB holding a 32-18 advantage. The teams have met in the C-USA Championship in 2009, 2010 and 2013 with the Golden Eagles winning two of the three games. The Blazers are 18-5 in games played in Birmingham.
ABOUT SOUTHERN MISS
Southern Miss (5-14, 1-5 C-USA) is coming its first Conference USA victory of the season after an 81-68 win over Rice on Jan. 18. USM is 0-7 on the road this season. Gabe Watson is the Golden Eagles leading scorer with 12.8ppg. Leonard Harper-Baker leads the team in rebounds with 7.3 rpg. USM is coached by Jay Ladner who is in his first season after serving the last five years at Southeastern Louisiana.

Thursday’s game is Star Wars night. Fans are encouraged to come to the game dressed up as their favorite characters and enter our costume contest. The first 200 students get a mini light sabre.
